Volatility and possible total loss

Crypto asset prices can move sharply and unpredictably, in either direction, over short periods. You could lose some or all of the value placed into a crypto asset or a corridor structure.

Liquidity in African currency and stablecoin corridors can be thin and can change quickly. It may not always be possible to source, settle or unwind a position at the price or within the timing you expect.

Regulatory risk

Crypto asset regulation in South Africa and other jurisdictions where EAS or its counterparties operate is still developing. Changes in law or regulatory guidance could affect the availability, structure or cost of the services described on this site.

Technology, custody and security risk

Crypto assets rely on technology, including exchanges, wallets and networks operated by third parties, which carry operational, cyber-security and counterparty risk. EAS applies segregation and security controls appropriate to a licensed crypto asset service provider, described in our client asset protection summary, but no system removes this risk entirely.

Cross-border and currency risk

Moving value across African currency corridors involves foreign exchange risk and exposure to capital controls, banking access and settlement conditions that vary by country and can change without notice.
